Ice Cave Tour with Super Jeep Ride to Katla Ice Cave- From Vik or Reykjavik

Are you looking for a unique tourism experience? Then you should take this tour!

It's time to climb into a Super Jeep, put on your crampons, and explore South Iceland's massive glaciers and ice caves.

Be prepared to experience jaw-dropping sights and scenery straight out of a movie. After hiking across the Myrdalsjokull glacier, we'll see the breathtaking blue and black ice caves on Mt. Katla.

With this one, Mother Nature really outdid herself!

Both a pick-up from Reykjavik and a meet-on-location tour option are available for this excursion. Please view the various booking machines.

One of Iceland's most well-known glaciers, Myrdalsjökull is the source of the attractive Kötlujökull glacier. The powerful Icelandic volcano Katla, which is encircled by the glacier, is named after Kötlujökull. Some of Iceland's most beautiful natural ice caves have been formed as the vast mass of ice has been gently descending from the volcano peak. You will have the opportunity to discover the beauties of this breathtaking natural phenomenon on our thrilling Super Jeep trip. As soon as you enter, you will understand why!

Once you've been picked up, it's time to head towards the glaciers. On the way there, you'll stop at a petrol station so you can stock up on snacks and beverages. The journey begins on the renowned Road 1, but soon we will turn and enter what appears to be a wasteland. Along the route, stunning glaciers and mountains will be all around us. The super jeep has little trouble navigating the difficult road, but the drive is nevertheless thrilling.

We will come to a stop not far from the Kötlujökull glacier's base, where we will be greeted by an extraordinary sight. We will put on our helmets and crampons and proceed a short distance to the entrance of the ice cave. To get to the cave entrance, we might have to ascend some ladder steps.

Each trip may have different circumstances because the natural ice cave is continually changing. Even someone in average physical condition should be able to ascend these steps because the climb is not at all difficult. Although it initially seems challenging, it is really not that difficult.

As we get closer to the cave, stunning layers of variously colored ice and volcanic ash emerge from the ice, creating striking stripes in the glacier. Your trip will be both educational and thrilling at the same time as your guide will tell you everything there is to know about the glacier's past, the ice cave, and the surroundings nearby.

Before heading back to our super truck once we have exited the glacier, we will explore the area and check to see if any more tiny ice caves are accessible. The trip back to Vik is breathtaking, and as we approach the mountains in the winter, the sun begins to drop magically. Bring your camera, of course!

If you select the round-trip pickup from Reykjavik:

If there is enough light (from the first of February to the fifteenth of November), we'll stop by a few impressive waterfalls. We'll make a pit break to the breathtaking Skógafoss waterfall in the picturesque Skógar region, which served as the basis for numerous folktales. We advise climbing up the right side of the waterfall to see the troll's face, which has become stone after losing all sense of time and gazing at Skógafoss for all eternity.

We'll also make a stop at the magnificent Seljalandsfoss waterfall (all year long), which you can stroll behind. On the Seljalands River, which originates from the well-known volcano Eyjafjallajökull, is where Seljalandsfoss is situated.

Please be aware that we cannot stop at Skógafoss in the winter due to the short daylight hours (from the 16th of November until the 31st of January). We only make a stop at both waterfalls on this tour between the first of February and the fifteenth of November. The lone stop on the meet-on-location tour (departing from Vk) is the Ice cave.

It is extremely necessary to dress warmly! Since there is no option to rent clothing for this excursion, kindly bring warm, waterproof clothing, warm hat, gloves, and sturdy shoes.

By 8:00 p.m., we'll be back in Reykjavik.
