Glaciers in Iceland
In Iceland you will find Europe's largest glaciers. Vatnajökull glacier is the largest 2110 m (6922 ft) high and covers an area of 8100 km2 (3130 mi2). Langjökull glacier is the second largest 1450 m (4757 ft) high and covers an area of 950 km2 (370 mi2).
Volcanos in Iceland
There are several active volcanos in Iceland. Eyjafjallajökull is probably the most famous volcano in recent times, for its eruptions in 2010, when the whole air traffic in Europe was closed for days.
Hot Springs in Iceland
Iceland is known for its hot springs. The most famous hot spring in Iceland is Geysir I Haukadaur, which has given name to phenomenon in most languages in the world.
Northern Lights in Iceland
In the winter months in Iceland the aurora borealis (Northern lights) often enlighten the sky with its dancing performance. Just add clear sky and darkness and you will be amazed.
